John,
What kind of color scheme were you thinking? If you can give us an idea, we could run it by the development team as a possible upgrade in the future.
Thanks,

I was thinking something along the lines of maybe something lighter, a white or chromatic type color scheme. Maybe even the option to change the background colors to make it a little more personal. Just anything that would make the site a tad bit more attractive than it already is.

I agree it is very difficult to see items that have a black background. Blue would be good or white. It is very distracting trying to find what you need to click on when it's all black.

Yes, please...it is extremely hard for me and my students to read content on the black background. Thank you so much.

I also agree. The dark gray writing on a black background can be difficult to read and taxing on the eyes. Thanks!

I was about to post the same question/suggestion. I just discovered Study Blue and it's great, but very hard to see the text and links on the website. I have been to websites that allow you to select different color schemes, and this would be a nice feature, but at least a light-colored text on the black background would be better. A cyan clue or something of that nature would work with the current theme and be easier to see on the dark background.

I can't see at all! Very much agree with the above posts. Whether I'm using Firefox or Explorer, all I get are dark gray font (and too tiny) on black background. I don't think anyone over 40 has a chance here.

The gray/black colors don't provide enough contrast to see easily, especially if your screen is near a window of has light hitting it.

Gray on black screen is too hard to see in brighter lighting.

I think that the dark colors of the websites background is hard on my eyes. I would love to have the ability of changing the tone and color of the websites background.

1I agree that the site lacks contrast. I do however like the grey backdrop. Since white on black has more contrast than black on white, I find it more soothing than a white background, black text website. As it stands, it's a very clean and minimalistic interface, which I really appreciate. Some of the key elements on the page just need to have a bit more brightness or color pumped into them. -

See I disagree, the dark background is ideal for me. As someone who is often up studying late at night, a harsh white background starts to really hurt my eyes. The dark background is nice because if I study right before bed and turn off the lights, it isn't so bright that I can't fall asleep after having closed the laptop. Plus, black is a little more earth friendly - requires a bit less output by the computer screen. Keep it as is! Or make it optional
-
Agreed. Maybe give users the option between backgrounds in a light, dark, and, moderate color scheme.

kz001, I'm with ya all the way. I prefer the darker scheme too for this reason. In fact, if you use a Mac, look into a program called Nocturne. It will change your screen to be only black and red, and makes a HUGE difference on your eye strain. Astronomers often use "Night Mode" in their planetarium software. There's something about red light and how the rods in your eyes work that doesn't strain your eye but still allows you to see. It also doesn't affect their night vision so they can work on the computer then look in the telescope without having to wait for their eyes to readjust (like, 8+ minutes). I use the black/red scheme for reading articles and studying at night. When I transfer to school in the states and share a room with a roommate, I can have the laptop on black/red and it won't disturb my roommate's sleeping. Try it though and see if you like it. It'll take a bit of tweaking in the settings to get it to your preference, but if you do a lot of studying in the dark, you'll seriously thank me.

The ability to change the color of menus and such, white on light blue or light blue on white are not easily read by people with color-vision disabilities, ect.

is it necessary to have a black background on your website? I can barely see what to do

I think that it should have an option to change the color of the background to what we would like. Blue, green. black, red, yellow, white, purple etc.

Personally, I like the color scheme. Grey and blue? win! Add some Aqua/turquoise & I’d fall in love! Although most people don’t like my opinion on colors. They use words like “tacky” to describe it.

Hey there, I love study blue but find it really, really difficult to see the small grey text on the black background. Especially hard on iPhone as the text is so small. I want to upgrade but don't want to invest too much because it is difficult to use and I'm not sure if I can put up with it long term. Can you lighten the text a bit without ruining your presentation.
Other than this great job on creating this fantastic product!

Study"Blue" desperately needs a lighter color scheme. The current one has too much contrast.
A blue/light grey scheme would be much nicer on my eyes. Plus, it wouldn't attract the attention of my boss at work — who might think I'm jerking off or playing games when he glances at my monitor from afar. Heck a fake excel spreadsheet background would work too.

I really do agree. The dark screen does create a lot of strain for my eyes, especially when I'm trying to create flashcards.
I think a white/gray background, light cyan blue buttons would be a good optional color switch. -

I agree - the black background is killing my eyes. I would suggest the a blue/white scheme, or white/gray, too.

Please add a feature with which users can change the background of the site to black text on white, instead of white text on black. The current color scheme is hard on the eyes, especially after hours of studying.
