Easy Evernote Syncing

Currently, notes in evernote can transfer to studyblue. I prefer creating my notes in study blue and I like to use evernote to store all my projects. It would be great if studyblue notes could transfer over to evernote also. 2 way syncing would be useful! Evernote notes go into studyblue and studyblue notes also can go into evernote (this syncing should occur simultaneously -- not 2 separate syncs).

    Kayley,
Thanks for the post. As of right now, which you know, the sync feature is only one way - from Evernote to StudyBlue. We have had some users request that the 2-way sync become available and it it something we are looking into. I am glad that you are finding the site and the sync useful.
I'll add your vote to the tally of people looking for this feature and we'll send out an update when anything becomes available.

this is frustrating that there is no two way syncing. Im typing my notes in studyblue and thinking it is syncing with my evernote. this should be stressed that there is only one way of syncing. hope the 2 way syncing will be added soon. it should be a given already. and absolutely would not purchase if this was added to the premium subscription.

I believe that 2-way synching would be a great idea because of the ability to have everything (including flashcards) on any device, tablet or computer. Evernote applications can be found on a wider range of devices than StudyBlue, and 2-way synching would provide access to more study materials on devices where StudyBlue has yet to create an application. Additionally, importing decks of flashcards from StudyBlue to a note on Evernote (So that flashcards can be studied directly from within a note) would definitely be an interesting feature to add with 2-way synching.

  • Related to Shanah's comment: syncing from SB to Evernote: this would mean you could format things using the the SB, which go beyond what you get in Evernote, and yet still see the basic content in Evernote. I don't think users would expect all the SB formatting to carry over--that would ask too much of SB developers and reduce the value of SB. Still it would be good to be able to review SB content in simple note format in Evernote.

I guess you would have to include some kind of meta data so that if the note was further edited in Evernote, it would go back to SB in proper format. Or else have a rule that said, notes syncd from SB were read only. EIther of those things would be fine for now.

Should worked out to become automatic and not manual. I took me a bit to figure out it wasn't automatic right away or even with a reload of the page (evernote or SB). I know it is a new feature, but this is one thing I'd love to see happen.

I really wish I could sync my notes from StudyBlue to Evernote and back, I use an iPad to take notes during class and I would really like to be able to check my studyblue flash cards for accuracy in evernote during class. I would also really like to be able to easily crate evernote peek flashcards using my studyblue flashcards. An easy two way sync would be invaluable.

Also a better ipad app (maybe with note taking ability) would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

There is a problem with Study Blue and Evernote when syncing 'certain PDFs'.
    Problem:
PDF's are not rendering through StudyBlue's note viewer as they used to.
    http://i.imgur.com/mkn7z.png
    Browser:
    Chromium Nightly Build x64
    Internet Explorer 9 x64
    Steps to reproduce the problem:
    1. Sync a (multi-page)PDF in Evernote to StudyBlue
    2. View the PDF
    Additional notes:
When I mention certain PDF's I mean PDF's with strangely formatted pages / audio. For example, here is a PDF with no audio, but the actual page is numbered as '10' in a standard PDF viewer: http://i.imgur.com/mkn7z.png (Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38431601/Blah... )

However here is a stable PDF without any strangely formatted pages. It even is multi page: http://i.imgur.com/4HdEp.png and http://i.imgur.com/UbIBN.png (Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38431601/AWor... )

Please notice that the pages are formatted incorrectly on the first, yet the second has the pages numbered 1 and 2.
Is this an issue for your reader?

Have to say that the concept behind Study Blue is brilliant. But there's two problems preventing me from even getting started with this product at the moment.

    1) Evernote sync does not work. Or more to the point, not the way it should. Pulling in notes from my evernote peek notebook results in...no flashcards. From the sounds of things there's a good deal of strenuous clicking, copying, pasting, typing and manual labour involved...BORING! Surely it should be just note title for clue, and note content for answer!?

    2) The menus are all over the place. Sure after a few uses I would get used to it, but wow, finding many functions (particularly Evernote sync) is a bit of a challenge.

Seriously though, if you could get it sorted, I'd be all over this like stink on rice.

I have already created manual SB notes for my class, and uploaded the syllabus and I created EN notes (including an audio recording of class). All the notes show up on my screen and synced over just fine, but none of the EN stuff is showing up in "Class Feed" and nothing I've created is showing up in class materials (unless you manually search for the class, then all you get is the SB stuff I made)

Tested using a 2nd Test account I made. This isn't good. The reason I use EN is for the primo formatting it allows for, SB has very little formatting options.

Created new studyblue account. Connected with my Evernote account. Created folder in StudyBlue. Synched with EN. Added note in EN with 2 column table structure. In StudyBlue, clicked on something to import the note and blue screen came up saying processing note and that it would only take a minute. 0 people ahead of me in queue. Still processing after 6 minutes. The table only had 4 or 5 rows. What's wrong?

How do I unlink my Evernote and StudyBlue account? I added some personal notes to my Evernote account today in a notebook labeled Greek 10 that was NOT under my StudyBlue stack. However, because I already had Greek 10 flashcards, I guess StudyBlue recognized the notebook. It then automatically added documents to my StudyBlue backpack.
As great as StudyBlue's services are, I really am not comfortable with this automatic uploading. I'm concerned about whether the community can see my personal notes.
Also, I don't find the automatic Evernote --> StudyBlue service to be particularly helpful and it's cluttering up my Evernote. I would prefer to use the services separately.

At the present time, I'm using Study Blue's interface to create flashcards and syncing them with the iphone app. However, the evernote to studyblue syncing seems to be clunky and for me unusable. Nowadays it seems that 2-way syncing is expected in the best apps and I was disappointed that it didn't exist when the Study Blue GUI is about the best GUI I've seen for a flashcard system (especially on the iphone where alternatives exist and all are deficient in some ways). Please create a 2-way sync.

as it is, the interface between evernote and studyblue is useless. really, you might as well not even have it exist given its shortcomings. as a long time evernote user getting back into school, I was excited to see I could use what I already have as flashcards with this new interface (or so I thought). I am glad I did not pay any money for this.

you have to retype info that you already made into evernote notes to get it into a flashcard
then you have to make each flashcard generated from this effort its own deck
so then you study from a bunch of one-card decks since you can't merge them
and you can't see your flashcards in evernote because of one-way "syncing" (I use that term generously since there is not really any syncing going on)

    how it should work:
make a note in evernote, with the title as one side of the flashcard and the note body as the other side.
use evernote notebooks to organize by topics
connect your studyblue and evernote accounts
    study your flashcards

if you could make that work, I would pay for it!
    • That doesn't really make sense though. Most of what people do with study blue is study definitions. Having one note per definition is a complete waste of resources. There needs to be some sort of formatting syntax you can use do delineate between cards in a large note, something like /* to denote the beginning of a new card and */ to denote the end, with whitespace serving to differentiate between the title and the body of the note.
