1Select the note or flashcard deck you would like to make private and click the "Edit" button on the right hand side of the screen under the "Options" menu. An "Edit Privacy and Details" option will be made available to the right of the note/flashcard deck title. Clicking on it will allow you to change the document to "Public", "Private", or "Password".

2Select the course you want to study. Select the file or flashcard. At the top right-hand side of the screen select “Edit Privacy and Details.” Under "Privacy,” you should click on the box next to “Private,” and then when you save your document the privacy setting will also be changed. -

There needs to be a way to put things on private. Many classes are competitive and students don't have an interest in putting in work making study guides and flashcards, just to have another student in their class take the information for themselves.

I guess this isn't the idea of study blue, but I think it would be nice to be able to keep some note cards private to just me or select people.

I like the opportunity to make electronic study material. I think that it's a great way to save paper and other materials. HOWEVER, I wish that there is an option to make my study materials private from other students that "joined the class"

Hello! I absolutely love StudyBlue but is there a way to hide my notes so classmates in my class can't see my notes and notecards I write?
They told me they don't show up to class because they look at my notes on here.
A person mentioned something about getting paid to make notecards for a class? I would love to get a response back :) Thanks!

I would like to make my flashcards private. We have been warned by our campus that posting class material on a site that is making a profit is a copyright infringement. I would like to keep using your service but I also don't want to get kicked out of school. If I cannot make my stuff private I will have to discontinue the use of your services.

Instead of having to make the settings for each one, can I make all of the things for a class or my entire profile private?

Jackie,
Thanks for the message about our merge. We are cleaning up our GS page so we can keep certain issues together. Your idea is still on our radar and we will post an update if anything changes.

I am having a terrible time changing my privacy settings for a set of audio flashcards from private to protected. The error message says, "You are trying to save a file that was recently modified. Close to load modifications. Refresh if the problem persists." It is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way to "Block" a person? I invited a classmate and we were to share the work load of adding due to the large amount of information we need to study. As it turns out, I have been adding and they have been studying.

I didn't realise the notes and flashcards I make on StudyBlue are public, is there a way to change them all to private?
Preferably in one step so I don't have to go into each note (I imported all of my notes from Evernote).
Thanks in advance

There really needs to be a way to make your whole account or folder private.. having to go through every single note sucks.

Hi Katie,
I'm more than happy to keep my lecture notes public as I can see how a collaborative platform can help others as well as myself, without being too crucial to my final grade.
However, I have certain revision materials which I have taken a lot of time to write up and then transfer to Studyblue which are pretty personal to me. I'd prefer to keep this private to me rather than advantage other students on my course who (may) have done little work. This is pretty much the basis of whether to use Studyblue or not - if I can privatise these notes, I'll use it, if not then I'll just keep using paper.
Additionally, I'm planning on using Studyblue when researching to keep notes on coursework - if any other user copies or uses this material in their work then I can get in trouble for plagiarism. As such, I'd like to be able to zone off whole folders of work quickly and easily.. this would also encourage me to share more lecture notes or work that can be on the public domain as I would be a more avid user of your platform.
Basically, it'd be great to have a public/private switch for folders. It would make distinguishing between work I want to share and stuff I don't so much easier.
Thanks for coming back to me, I appreciate it :)

Katie, I understand that you want it to be a collaborative and open place, but I agree with Rob - it's very frustrating because plagiarism is something academia does not take lightly and I don't want my hard work a) helping students who don't go to class/don't have their own materials b) have people pass off my work as their own or somehow plagiarize off of me.
I full comprehend the fact that I can make things individually private, but it's a painstaking process when I want to make all my things private and then have to go back and check that they're private.
There are some things I wouldn't mind having public, for example if I make vocabulary flash cards to study for a test. But overall, StudyBlue is more of a place for me to store and organize, like an online binder, I don't use it to collaborate. I would love to share and study with others on this website, but right now, if I make my materials public, it is more of a free-for-all for others to access my work without much benefit for me. -

Please do something about the privacy issue. I know you can set passwords for certain notes but is there a way you guys can create a mechanism which asks the author is a person can use their notes if the author is very specific about his/her notes. I have an economics class which happens to be very competitive and many people use studyblue and many have been using my notes! I had to delete them and start another account to prevent them. it took me hours and I dont want to share without getting paid! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!!!! PLSSSSS and i'll love you forever.

Create a mechanism where authors of notes can set their settings to specify who and who cannot see their notes. Like it should make users ASK for permission from the author.. -
