To study a flashcard deck by viewing the definition first as opposed to the term, you should notice a "Study Options" menu in the upper-left hand side of a flashcard deck in study mode. The options listed will be "Show Term First" and "Show Definition First". Click the box next to your preferred method and study away.
The process is roughly the same in the mobile app. In study mode you will notice an "Options" button in the upper-right hand corner of the flashcard. Click it and choose whether you would like "Term" or "Definition" to show first.

1To the left of the flashcard you will see “Study Options” the second grouping is “Show Term First” or “Show Definition First.” Select how you would like to study and hit “Go.”

you should be able to reverse the cards and study them from the other side, also you should be able to randomize them

Hi Tessa,
From the same "Study Options" menu noted about, you will see an option to shuffle your flashcards. I hope that answers your questions!

The cards only quiz the way I type in. I wish the cards then could quiz in reverse. For example, if I put a flashcard for "hamburger" and my definition is "meat sandwich", it will only ask me for the definition of "hamburger" and never ask me for a word for "meat sandwich". For foreign languages, it really is important to go from French to English AND English to French as well to make sure I know the meaning well enough to use it. I don't want to type the cards in both ways.

For example, when study a language (ex. spanish), it is nesessary to study spanish to english, as well as english to spanish. When using flashcards to study vocab, it would quite useful to be able to reverse the flashcards, which would flip all of them and keep them like that.

To flip the flash cards so you study the opposite side of the card. For example I am studying ions for chemistry and I wrote H2 PO4- at the top and for the definition i wrote Dihydrogen Phosphate ion and i when i am studying the flash cards i want to switch the order so i see Dihydrogen Phospate ion instead of H2 PO4-. But i recently discovered the site and i love the idea of it.

For flashcards i think it would help if we could flip the cards around, like instead of term then definiton we could have definition then we have to state the term!

How can I study my note card both ways. I put the question on the front and the answer on the back. I also want to be able to look at the answer on the back and guess the question. Example: I'm studying bacteria. On the front of the card I put the type of bacteria and on the back I put the symptoms that it causes. I also want to be able to look at the back with the symptoms and guess the front the type of bacteria.

Make a feature in flashcards that allows you to flip the "term" and the "description" so that you can study reproducing the definition and reproducing the word from a definition. I also think a randomize button for when you study with the flashcards would be great for studying.

I see the card options of reading the definition first, but even when I select that option, I always get the term first. Do you know why it is not working?
The randomize selection is working.-
Hi Cassi, we know this is a problem and will have it fixed in the next day or two. Sorry for the inconvenience.

flashcards would be better of we could read the definition and guess the answers
This would be better if we can turn our flash cards terms and definitions into a quiz, or if we can make quizzes

Presenting the definition first to make you guess the word that matches it. We need more options. My teacher formats most of her tests like that, and this website is great, but that would be an awesome feature.

There should be a way to switch seeing the definition first and then flipping to the subject. In my spanish class I see the spanish word first and I usually know the english but I don't think I could say the spanish when given the english.

OK, that's great and I've already found it helpful, on my PC.
But I can't seem to figure out how to reverse the flashcards on my android app.
Does it not exist, or am I just not finding it? Thanks in advance for any help- view 1 more comment

Thanks Katie, per my, and several other users over on that thread, both iphone and android, Studyblue will either not go horizontal at all, or only after one is within a deck, and all menu options are now gone. Not working for a whole group of us, across platforms. Thanks for any light you could shed on this.

Hi Roger,
I apologize for things not being more clear in the post I connected you to. In my reply to "xfile" in that thread, I tried to provide some clarification. The mobile app will appear horizontally when flipping through flashcards in "study mode". This means you will need to tap on a flashcard deck and then the "Study Now" button. Your cards should come up in a horizontal view with a small "Options" button located in the top right hand corner. Click on it and you will be able to chose to view "Term" or "Definition" first.
Does this make more sense?

It would be more useful to have the term/definition option selectable before the first card comes up, as then you have already seen the 'answer' to the first card. I also find it odd having the selected cards show up at the bottom of the 'select study' screen (in the android app) as then unless I cover that part of the screen I have seen the answers to the first few cards.

i think the popular cry is being misunderstood. we are asking for the "show_____" option during QUIZZES not just while studying (not to be ungrateful for the studying, as that is fantastic).
