I am an adult, not enrolled in college, studying for a professional certification. I would like to use this website but it is school-centric and I do not think I can use it. Am I correct? Better yet, can you tell me how to get around the school association part?
I think this is a great tool for students in school.

Glenn,
Thanks for the question. When you go to sign up for the site and it asks you for your school, you can create a "dummy" school called "Self Study" or "Professional Certification." Or better yet, maybe give it the title of the certification you are seeking and perhaps there will be other users on the site whose materials relate to yours. Then I will approve your new school request and you can create classes that match the different sections of your test and create materials within those classes.
On a side note, we are working currently to make some changes to the site that will allow more freedom in creating materials and having to associate them with a school.
Thanks for the question and let me know if you have any others.

Hi. I want to use this service, but I'm no longer in school. When trying to add a subject, the system wants irrelevant information about dept, level and professor. Please consider allowing users to disengage these requirements. Think of it this way, your customers will eventually graduate. Then what? Of course, you'd want to keep them right? Thanks.

I really like your App. However, I am not in school right now but would love to do some self-paced study using some of the Flash card decks In particular the decks for VCP 4 Is there a way that I can save those decks to my profile so I can carry them around with my divices?

Allow use for non-college situations. I was hoping to make flashcards for the menu of a restaurant I work at and to be able to share it with co-workers but alas since I need to assign it a class, I can't do this. Sad emoticon here.

I attended BYU-I last semester on line. I am taking this semester off in order to accomplish some other educational goals such as getting my Real Estate License and being recertified with Microsoft on their office suite. My email account with BYU-Idaho is still active and I will be back attending in the fall (August). In the meantime I would like to use Study Blue for definitions which I need to know in order to pass the National and State Real Estate test. However, now that I typed several terms in it will not let me save them without a Department, Class and Professor that it recognizes.
Is it possible to use Study Blue without being enrolled in a college course? My Real Estate class is not through a college.

I am a big evernote fan and I just learned of your site. I am not in HS or College but I do take technical courses then have to study for the exam. I also participate in study groups to prepare for the exam.
I did just sign up for a membership and I just put a college so I could test this out. Perhaps in the future it could have a wider use such as people like myself.

Be more friendly to non-university students, like people who have other reasons to study.

Please add an option for military members. There are many classes and training that are offered to the military. I would have loved this if I had it for my flight training that I went through. I study GK while flying across the ocean. An off line version for ipad or iphone would be great.

Alisha,
Right now, this is hard to do on the site without switching from your school to a dummy school entitled "Self Study" or "Church and Work Study" in order to add the materials for those purposes. It is possible, but just a little harder to do.
In a few weeks we will be opening up the structure of the site so you no longer have to associate all your materials to a class or department. That will definitely help you in your specific situation.
Thanks again for posting.

I would like to develop flashcards for private studying. I already have a PhD, so I'm not in school anymore. I don't see any way to set up my own "classes."

I don't know if you all are still having this problem but I am not! It's August 2011 and I'm not currently a student, but I am able to make flashcards and notes without being a part of any institution.
